Thank you for visiting our website! Our lab is named as Laboratory for Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics, affiliated with Interdisciplinary Research Center on Biology and Chemistry (IRCBC), and Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Mass spectrometry-based metabolomics/lipidomics has enabled simultaneous quantitative measurements of thousands of metabolites using minimal amounts of biological samples, providing functional readouts of physiological and pathological states of biological individuals at the systems level. Although relatively new compared to genomics and proteomics, metabolomics has revealed new metabolic pathways in cell biology and improved our understanding of disease pathogenesis. We are mainly interested in the development of mass spectrometry based metabolomics technologies, including LC-MS techniques, metabolite spectral database and data processing software. We develop a variety of different metabolomics technologies ranging fromtargeted metabolomics, untargeted metabolomics to lipidomics. For each technique, we also develop data processing program and/or build metabolite database for automated data processing (both quantitative and qualitative analyses). Now we are also exploring new techniques such as DIA (SWATH) and IM-MS techniques for metabolomics.
More recently, we expand our research interests into disease research areas through metabolic phenotyping of various challenging diseases. Our lab mainly focus on aging and aging dependent neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Parkinson's Diseases. We hope we can use mass spectrometry and metabolomics as tools to understand metabolic remodeling during aging, and metabolism regulation of aging and aging-related diseases. We are also interested in the high-throughput profiling of metabolite - protein interaction, which is another key regulation in aging and neurodegenerative diseases. The comprehensive study of metabolites at the system level may give a holistic view of these challenging questions.
